Salvation Army of Gadsden welcomes new corps officers, sets Aug. 26 reception

GADSDEN — The Salvation Army of Gadsden has new leadership. Lts. Daniel and Amanda Jones took over as corps officers in June, and the public is invited to meet them at a free come-and-go reception from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26, at 120 N. 11th St. in Gadsden.

Amanda Jones said. “I look forward to listening, learning and serving alongside our donors, community partners, staff and volunteers as we work together to share hope and meet needs in Christ’s name.”

Who are the new Salvation Army corps officers?

Daniel and Amanda Jones were commissioned as Salvation Army officers in June 2023 and appointed to the Gadsden corps in June 2026. Before arriving in Etowah County, they served for three years in Winter Haven, Florida.

Salvation Army officers function as both pastors and administrators. In addition to leading worship and providing spiritual care, they oversee community outreach, emergency assistance programs, volunteer efforts and partnerships with local churches, businesses and civic organizations.

Their appointment to Gadsden continues The Salvation Army’s tradition of periodically reassigning officers to meet the needs of communities across the country while bringing fresh leadership and new ministry opportunities to each local corps.
