Gas Prices in Gadsden Edge Up This Week, but We Stay Among Alabama’s Cheapest

Drivers in Gadsden are paying an average of $3.35 for a gallon of regular gas this week, according to AAA. That is up about 2 cents from last week.

The average for all of Alabama is $3.47. That puts Gadsden about 11 cents below the rest of the state. Local drivers are catching a small break at the pump compared to much of Alabama.

The national average is even higher at $3.80 a gallon. So filling up here costs about 44 cents less than the country as a whole.

There is more good news if you look back a little further. A month ago, gas in Gadsden was running about $3.71 a gallon. Prices are down about 35 cents since then. The small uptick this week is a bump in a road that has been heading down since spring.

Compared to last year, though, we are still paying more. A year ago a gallon here cost about $2.66. That is roughly 70 cents cheaper than today.

Diesel is running $4.42 a gallon in the Gadsden area, down about 3 cents from last week.

For comparison, the highest gas price ever recorded for our area was $4.55, back in June 2022.
