Gadsden forecast: Humid Monday with an afternoon storm possible

3 August 2026

GADSDEN — Monday brings a humid, seasonable day to Gadsden and Etowah County, with a mix of clouds and sun and the chance of a stray afternoon thunderstorm.

Forecasters expect a high near 83 degrees — cooler than the low 90s the area saw earlier in the summer — with an overnight low around 68. The best rain chance comes in the afternoon; any storm that develops could bring lightning, brief heavy rain and gusty wind, but no organized severe weather is expected. Tuesday looks similar, with another spot thunderstorm possible and a high near 84.

Humidity will make it feel warmer than the thermometer reads, so anyone working or exercising outdoors should take water breaks and watch for signs of heat stress. With high school teams deep into preseason practice, coaches and parents should keep an eye on the radar for afternoon lightning.

Sunrise was about 5:57 a.m., with sunset near 7:42 p.m.

One note for drivers: brief downpours can pond water in low spots and construction zones, so leave a little extra room on the afternoon commute.
