As January comes to a close, Gadsden is gearing up for a festive February. While this week is relatively quiet, it serves as the perfect opportunity to prepare for the exciting events just around the corner. From Mardi Gras celebrations to chili cook-offs, the coming weeks are packed with activities for everyone.
## Looking Ahead: A Preview of February’s Festivities
Next week, Downtown Gadsden will be the place to be. On Saturday, February 7th, the **18th Annual Downtown Gadsden Chili Cook-Off** will take place from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. This beloved community event brings together local teams to compete for the title of best chili, with tasting tickets available for the public. Immediately following the Chili Cook-Off, the **inaugural Mardi Gras Parade** will roll through downtown from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, hosted by the Krewe of Rowdy Revelers. This family-friendly parade will feature floats, music, and a festive atmosphere, marking a new tradition for the city.
For those looking for a different kind of celebration, the **Tyn Tymes Mardi Gras Party** will be held on Saturday, January 31st, at the Mary G. Hardin Center for Cultural Arts. This annual indoor event features the popular band The Tyn Tymes and raises funds for the Gadsden Cultural Arts Foundation.
