Editorial Standards & Content Policy

GadsdenThrive exists to serve the people of Gadsden and Etowah County with information that is local, accurate, calm, and respectful. Our goal is to highlight community life without exaggeration, speculation, or sensationalism. This page explains what we publish, what we do not, and how editorial decisions are made.

What GadsdenThrive Publishes

We publish content that is:

  • Local-first — focused on Gadsden and surrounding communities
  • Accurate and verified
  • Community-respectful
  • Calm and non-sensational

This includes:

  • Community events and announcements
  • Local business information and updates
  • Church, school, and nonprofit activities
  • Original community stories and features

What GadsdenThrive Does Not Publish

To protect trust and credibility, we do not publish:

  • Rumors, gossip, or speculation
  • Anonymous accusations or claims
  • Political advocacy or campaign content
  • National promotions unrelated to the local community
  • Multi-level marketing (MLM) or pyramid-style promotions
  • Content designed primarily to provoke outrage or fear

Submissions that fall into these categories will be declined.

Verification Standards

Accuracy matters more than speed.

Before publication, information must meet one or more of the following:

  • Direct submission from an identifiable organization or individual
  • Publicly available documentation
  • Multi-party corroboration (three or more independent confirmations) when claims affect the public or involve disputes

Content that cannot be reasonably verified will not be published.

Editing & Editorial Authority

All submissions are subject to editing for:

  • Clarity

  • Tone

Editing is done to improve readability and accuracy, not to change meaning.

Submission does not guarantee publication.
